About Us

Care for Nature Zambia is a Not for Profit Non Governmental Organisation working to promote Environmental conservation and sustainable development in Zambia. The organisation was founded in October 2010 and registered in January 2011 under the Societies Act of Zambia, Registration No. ORS/102/46/334

Why we exist

Every day Zambia loses part of its Biodiversity through land use and economic activities such as agriculture, forestry, mining and infrastructure development to meet the growing population’s demand. With over 80% of the total population depending on natural resources for food, fuel, income and raw materials, Zambia’s wildlife, forests, fisheries, minerals, water bodies and land risk depletion and degradation, to the extent where we need to take urgent action to avoid total depletion and extinction of species. Further climate change has emerged as one of the most pressing challenges in Zambia affecting both social and economic development and increasing the threats to poverty. Care for Nature Zambia exists to promote community rights and responsibilities to access and utilise natural resources whilst conserving them.
