From the 2019 to 2021 Rain season Zambia has been affected by severe drought in the Southern parts of the country and flooding across the country. These natural disaster affect women and children the most, especially those living in the rural areas, where livelihoods are dependent on rain fed Agriculture and exploitation of natural resources. Flooding increases the risk of waterborne diseases as majority households use shallow Wells for water and pit latrines for sanitation. Our call is to increase education and awareness including early warning and preparedness so that communities can participate in decision making and problem solving.
